"I recently had the honour of being able to ride in the first Schumacher Dynamic saddle to come into WA.   Zoe graciously allowed me to bring the saddle home for thorough testing on my rather large, heavily boned  warmblood horse.  He has a very big shoulder and rather well sprung rib cage as well as the actual vertebrae being “chunky” (indicative by looking at how thick his tail bone is).  I have been searching for a suitable saddle to make him feel more comfortable through his back that I also felt “at home” in. 

 

My very first reaction to sitting in the Dynamic was “it feels very…alive”.  It immediately placed me in the correct position in the seat and I didn’t have to purposefully think about where to place my legs.  The saddle did it for me.  The quality of the leather used to make the saddle is superb and the craftsmanship is exquisite.  The seat is nicely cushioned to provide maximum comfort to the rider and the leather is not at all slippery.  I found that the stirrup bars are very correctly placed so the stirrup straps hang perfectly vertical.  I felt very comfortable at walk, trot and canter and the saddle soon felt like an “old friend” even though it was brand new and had not been oiled yet.  The knee rolls are placed perfectly and are situated on the lower flap so as not to intrude on the movement of the rider’s leg but does offer subtle support.  The one thing that struck me was how the saddle gave me the feeling of being narrower to sit in although the channel underneath is probably a good 10cm wide.  This provided plenty of room for my horse’s chunky back bone.  The under panels of the saddle are surprisingly soft and cushion like which must feel very comfortable  for the horse.  An attractive feature of this saddle is that the gullet can be altered easily without having to actually pull it out and change it.  The padding in the panels is flocking and can be shifted, increased or decreased according to the horse and the rider’s needs.  The wonderful thing is that Zoe offers a fantastic wealth of knowledge of saddle fit and after sales service to her clients."
